After months of research, we finally decided to risk it and purchase this bunk bed via internet. Although it was a great price, we were very disappointed when we opened the box. Most of the pieces came with gashes, chips, large & small cracks, sunken holes -- you name it. Not only that, but we felt deceived in that all of the "solid wood" is really pieces of wood glued together. There are no solid boards with single, solid pieces of wood. It's wood that's been sandwiched together with glue. To me, that speaks to a poorer quality than something that is truly solid wood. OK, then there was the toxic smell. Geez, you better let the bed air out (gas out) in the garage or something for a few weeks before exposing your child to it and having them breathe that all night long. So, the company we bought this bed through was very nice and had the manufacturer re-send us some of the pieces that were in the worst shape.
