We ordered this exact bed but also included the underbed storage drawers and spent $665. Wonderful bed for our 4 and 2 year olds. They have a small bedroom but it still looks great and all the storage in the stairs is wonderful. Took one person all day to put together but instructions were great. Ordered on Saturday and it arrived Thursday in 5 boxes that I was able to bring inside by myself. It says not to use power tools but I don't see how you could put it together with out a screwdriver bit and drill. Bought 6 inch mattresses at Sam's Club for $100 each (Serta) and the standard size is perfect. I even lay on the bottom bunk with my son to tuck him in - very sturdy! The drawers are deep and the rollers are sound. I have laid on the bottom bunk with my two boys (let's just say I'm a taller dude with a bit extra weight on me) with no fears. Incredible bed.HOWEVER: the one bad thing that I wasn't the happiest about was the instructions. First understand that I am very handy and was a mechanical designer for years. The instructions were very vague (especially near the end) and caused us to reverse the stairs portion. We had to take it apart and reassemble which is never a good idea when it comes to wood. One other goofy thing when it came to the legs: two of them were dual bored (I'm assuming a factory mistake since the other 6 were fine) which caused some difficulties...Read more |
