I used this instead of a headboard behind my toddlers twin 'big girl' bed. She has 3 shelves to use (the 4th was below the bed frame line so it goes unused/unseen) and the front side (school locker style/depth) which has 2 slide-drawers on the bottom and a 2 shelf area behind the top door. (Knobs do come with the set) I am a single mom and put this together myself. Took me about 4 hours, if I remember correctly. It's important to look at all of the screws and parts to get familiar with them. Once you have a good handle on that, reading the instructions & building it was very easy. While it took me and my husband 3 hours to put this together, the instructions are not very clear and the pieces are all mixed in together. It is my hopes that this thing last at least 5 years but NEVER AGAIN would I buy something this hard to put together!
