Summary: CAREFUL!! 2008-09-09
Comment: When I assembled the bed, it looked pretty nice and sturdy. The only thing
that worried me was that each of the two beds only had four slats for the
mattress to sit on! I thought that maybe the designers knew what they were
doing, though. But then I got a standard twin mattress and guess what!
1. There was at least a 1 in gap on each of the four sides around the
mattress. THIS, I thought, was annoying (and not comfortable for my
3-year-old to keep rolling into these gaps while sleeping!!).
2. Even without anyone laying on the mattress, it sagged in between the
slats. And when my 3-year-old lay on it, it sagged even more. Now THAT's
a safety issue! And I didn't pay this much $$$ to go and add slats!!!
Note that the manual says that one should only put a mattress. So it is not
that I didn't put a spring box on! Having only 4 slats is a flaw.
If you still want to try and check it out yourself, make sure you don't pay
any shipping fees when you buy the bed and do keep the original box, in case
you return it.
I'm right now in the process of returning this to Amazon. Luckily, I didn't
pay any shipping when I bought it and so I'll get a full refund. Amazon was
real good about it and they didn't argue for a second.
