The bed was indeed monstrous but very sturdy (doesn't creak or move when ascending the ladder) and actually very attractive. Shipping was expedient and direction for assembly easy to follow. Does take two very strong people to assemble. My teenage son really enjoys the new space in his small room.

This bed is huge when it arrives. It is quite heavy and was a bit of work getting it into our apartment. Once in, it was fairly easy to put together with the help of my teen son. I really like this bed/desk because it is one of the most solid that I have seen. We looked at several others but they rocked and shook easily, a big concern for a still growing high schooler. This one is solid and does the job in a small space. Our ceilings are fairly high but if they were not it might have been a problem. The only thing I did not like were the nasty warning stickers that are pasted on the bed. It took a bit of work to peel and then rub off the left over paper that stuck to the frame. If not for the stickers I would give it five stars.

It is rare that I am so satisfied with every aspect of a product. I assumed this would be good quality, but a humongous hassle to put together. Actually, not only is it sturdy as a rock, but my husband and I got it from box to final bolt in under 2 hours--even with 2 little "helpers." My 6 yr old son is thrilled, and we feel good that it has good safety features--guard rail goes all the way around, ladder is bolted on. It has a smooth shiny finish, and looks very nice, however, be warned if you have a little house: it is BIG.
