The ladder does not have hooks. It's screw it on, or leave it off. I wanted a removable one, so I'm disappointed that it isn't exactly as described. The instructions have no text. It's pictures only, and that means not a lot of warning about mistakes you could make, or information on the most helpful order of assembly for each step. It's also not written for -exactly- the bed you get. The instructions have the ladder on the side instead of the foot of the bed. Watch for the pilot holes for the ladder when you're arranging the head and foot boards. Also the guard rails have a teeny tiny mark for the center rail, and you'll want to have those facing out. A ratcheting screwdriver with interchangeable heads including hex keys would have been really nice to have. I did use my own hex key, as the one provided was tearing up my hands. I was extremely impressed with the quality in this. The wood is heavy and dense which indicates to me that is good solid wood. I can't praise it high enough because my son of 4 yrs old and I have shared the bottom bunk a few times, he weighs about 40lbs and I weigh 245lbs and this thing didn't even grunt or creak under my weight so you wont find better than this for the price! Its a beautiful piece and I really the built in ladder so no worries about getting hung up under or in it. The kids love it and I do too. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Totit "Totit" (Medford, MA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bunk Bed Twin over Twin Ranch style in Cherry This is a really nice compact bunkbed. No issues with it really. The size is compact, making it useful for tight spaces... The trade-off is in the very low height, which can cause head-bumps against the upper bunk for kids who are not careful. I am happy with it. |
